Meet Claudia Ramone. North Fork Native. Female business woman. Mother of two. While Claudia calls the North Fork home, she’s traveled and lived in London and Belgium and spent years in her beloved Queens. She loves the energy of Manhattan and enjoys spending time dining out and exploring with her family in NYC.
Get to know Claudia in her own words:
“I was born and raised on the North Fork. My dad’s side of the family has been here since the 1600s after they were kicked out of Salem soon after emigrating from England. Growing up out here was a dream until my teens when I couldn’t wait to get out of here. I spent my senior year of high school as an exchange student in Belgium and there I fell in love with Europe, with traveling and everything about it - people, food, languages, art.
I’ve worn a lot of professional hats through my career. I started out in PR after college and pitched my way into a job offer in London. After returning to the US I was placed by a recruiter in a sales position for a French telecom company and discovered a sales career was my calling! I’ve been in B:B sales roles in industries including telecom, healthcare and F&B/hospitality. For the past 8 years I’ve been a commercial lines insurance broker serving clients in the asset management industry - hedge & PE funds, family offices, FinTech companies in Blockchain and crypto.
I’ve worked from home most of my career so I could be with my two children (daughters now ages 11 and 15). CoVid hasn’t really changed my day to day except that I’m now also running a school, cafeteria and housekeeping service while also doing my real job It’s been an interesting ride. I usually go into the city once a week or more for client meetings and networking events so I really miss that interaction with my industry peers and friends!
When I’m not working or on mom duty I’m usually doing some kind of endurance exercise. I worked my way through a handful of NYC marathons and now as I get older I enjoy distance road biking and weightlifting.
My personal story wouldn’t be complete without sharing my 20 year struggle with endometriosis and adenomyosis. I went undiagnosed and unheard by more doctors than I can count and I want other women to know they can speak up and move on until they find someone who listens. Anyone struggling can reach out to me anytime! I’m a big advocate of the subject now especially for young women and adolescents.
My absolute favorite spots in the city (I know some of these are closed now but deserve the mention)...Aurora on Broome St in SoHo for dinner, Casa Lever at Lever House for power lunch or cocktails, Macaron Cafe and Sant Ambroeus for coffee with friends.
On the North Fork I have a soft spot for The Halyard at Soundview where my husband and I were married almost 20 years ago, American Beech for amazing cocktails, Pizza Rita in Mattituck for a pizza and can of wine to hit the beach and of course Lucharitos in Greenport for the best tacos in town.”
